I am very honored to receive the APSR JRS Young Investigator Award at the APSR Congress 2021 in Kyoto. I am a graduate student at Department of Respiratory Medicine, Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine. I have been conducting research on alveolar macrophages in COPD. My presentation showed that Siglec-1 expression of macrophages in induced sputum of COPD patients correlates with the frequency of prospective exacerbations and that Siglec-1 negative alveolar macrophages in COPD patients may have inflammatory phenotypes. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I participate online this time, but I am looking forward to attending the APSR conference on-site. |

I'm a pulmonologist in the Division of Respiratory Diseases, Department of Internal Medicine, The Jikei University School of Medicine (Tokyo, Japan). Now I pursue basic research in the Laboratory of Integrative Oncology, National Cancer Center Research Institute (Tokyo, Japan), where I focus on transcriptome analysis. I've always been fascinated with how transcriptome analysis can be used to explain the complexity of lung parenchymal and mesenchymal architecture and I believe that our understanding of the complexities will lead us to the elucidation of various respiratory diseases such as IPF, COPD, lung cancer in the future. |

I conduct clinical and basic research on pulmonary circulation in the Graduate School of Medicine at Chiba University. My research interest is pulmonary hypertension (PH) with lung diseases, and my presentation at the APSR Congress 2021 in Kyoto is about PH patients with mild lung parenchymal changes without severe ventilatory impairment. They showed moderate to severe PH and low exercise capacity and mean pulmonary artery pressure could be important for their prognosis. I am honored to receive the APSR Young Investigators Travel Award in the Congress. I would like to thank everyone who helped with our work and appreciate precious experiences APSR has given me. |
